President John Dramani Mahama and Jamaican Prime Minister Dr Andrew Holness have pledged to deepen cooperation between Ghana and Jamaica in trade, tourism, education, agriculture and investment following bilateral talks during President Mahama’s State Visit to the Caribbean nation.
The commitment was announced after the two leaders delivered joint media statements, outlining a shared vision to strengthen relations between the two countries and unlock new opportunities for economic and social development.
According to Jubilee House, the discussions focused on expanding collaboration in sectors that can drive growth, increase investment and create stronger people-to-people ties between Ghana and Jamaica.
Trade and investment featured prominently during the talks, with both leaders expressing their determination to promote greater economic partnerships and encourage business opportunities between the two countries.
They also highlighted education as a key area for cooperation, with plans to strengthen exchanges that will benefit students, institutions and research.
The leaders further identified tourism and agriculture as strategic sectors where closer collaboration could boost economic development and enhance cultural and commercial links between the two nations.
Beyond economic cooperation, President Mahama and Prime Minister Holness reaffirmed the historic relationship between Ghana and Jamaica, stressing the importance of strengthening Africa-Caribbean relations and advancing the Pan-African agenda.
They also pledged to deepen collaboration on issues of mutual interest, underscoring their commitment to building a stronger partnership that delivers lasting benefits for both countries.
President Mahama’s State Visit to Jamaica is expected to reinforce Ghana’s engagement with Caribbean nations while opening new avenues for cooperation in trade, education, tourism, agriculture and other key sectors.
