Northern Region: Bamvem Paramount Chief Donates Land for New Fire Station at Jongshegu

The Paramount Chief of Bamvem, Abdulai Ziblim, has donated a one-acre plot of land at Jongshegu, a suburb of Tamale in the Northern Region, to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) for the construction of a new fire station.

The donation is expected to support efforts to improve fire safety and emergency response in Jongshegu and surrounding communities, which have experienced significant growth in recent years.

A delegation from the GNFS, led by the Northern Regional Commander, ACFO I Joseph Koranteng, formally received the land on behalf of the Service.

ACFO I Koranteng expressed appreciation to the Paramount Chief for the gesture, describing it as an important contribution towards protecting lives and property in the area.

He said the establishment of a fire station at Jongshegu would help strengthen the GNFS’s presence in the community and reduce the time required to respond to fire outbreaks and other emergencies.

The facility is also expected to improve fire safety coverage as residential and commercial activities continue to expand within Jongshegu and neighbouring communities.

The Paramount Chief, Abdulai Ziblim, called on relevant stakeholders to support the speedy development of the facility to ensure that the land donated is put to use as soon as possible.

He stressed the importance of having emergency response infrastructure closer to communities to help minimise the impact of fires and other disasters.

ACFO I Koranteng said the donation demonstrated the value of collaboration between traditional authorities and state institutions in promoting public safety.

He further commended the Paramount Chief for supporting the GNFS’s efforts to improve emergency preparedness and response in the Northern Region.

The proposed fire station is expected to serve Jongshegu and other nearby communities once completed.
