Security analyst Nana Appiah Asare has urged heads of Ghana’s security institutions to ensure that their personnel remain professional and independent in the discharge of their duties.

Speaking on Atinka TV’s Ghana Nie, hosted by Nana Yaw Fianko, Mr. Asare said police, military, intelligence, customs and immigration officers must execute their mandates in the national interest.

He cautioned security personnel against allowing politicians to use them for partisan interests, warning that political administrations change and officers could be left to face the consequences of actions taken in the line of duty.

“Every police officer, regardless of your rank, military officer regardless of your rank, National Intelligence Bureau, customs, immigration, whoever – if you are a true and true citizen and Ghanaian who believes and cherishes that you need to be professional, I want to advise you, go ahead and do it,” he said.

Mr. Asare stressed the importance of professionalism and urged security officials to carefully consider the long-term implications of their decisions.

He said security institutions must protect their professional integrity and maintain public confidence regardless of the political administration in power.
