Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz says Ghana will investigate the recurring injury problems affecting players selected for the national team.
The Portuguese coach disclosed that injuries have significantly affected his squad ahead of Ghana’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign, with several players unavailable for selection.
Queiroz said the frequency of injuries among Ghanaian players is a concern that must be properly examined as part of efforts to build a competitive national team.
According to the coach, player availability and match fitness are important factors in his selection decisions, with players expected to be physically ready to compete at international level.
The injury situation has already forced changes to the Black Stars squad, with replacements called up following withdrawals.
Queiroz believes addressing the problem is important not only for the immediate AFCON qualifiers but also for his long-term rebuilding plans for the team.
The coach is working to establish a squad capable of competing at the 2027 AFCON while building towards the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana will begin its AFCON qualifying campaign against Côte d’Ivoire in Bouaké on Thursday, September 24, before hosting The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 29.
With the Black Stars facing a demanding qualifying schedule, Queiroz will be hoping for greater player availability as he begins his rebuilding project.
