ADB strives to be among top five banks in Ghana by 2021

The Board Chairman of ADB, Mr Alex Bernasco, has stated that the bank is executing a three-year strategic plan to enable it become one of  the top five  banks in Ghana.
According to him, although the bank, which was established about 55 years ago has had its challenges, it has also chalked successful feats over the years and is bent on maintaining its status quo in the banking sector.
Speaking at the Annual Thanksgiving Service of the ADB, Mr Alex Bernasco said that despite the challenges in the financial sector which saw the collapse of a lot of banks,  the bank  didn’t sink because God’s hands and grace are with the bank.
“ADB has a great future. ADB will continue to survive because of God’s goodness and mercy. In spite of the challenges of the banking sector, the future is looking brighter than ever before for ADB,” he said.


 
Mr Alex Bernasco said that  ADB although made some loses in 2015 and 2016, it made profits in 2017, 2018, 2019 adding that things will be better this year.
He also said that things are getting better now with recovery of loans.
“ADB has posted satisfactory results, making profits after a string of loses in 2015 and 2016. Some of the key highlights we intend to achieve is to ensure that we have a healthy loan administration, a strong and robust loan recovery process. We also intend to enhance inter-departmental responsibilities, and cooperation in pursuit of our objectives. We believe that by the end of 2020, we should be part of the five top banks in the country. ”
Meanwhile, he also said the bank has put in place programmes to ensure sustained profitability.

The Managing Director of ADB, Mr John Kofi Mensah, who also noted the importance of thanksgiving said, “If you give reverence to God, appreciate and acknowledge him, he will break protocols for you.”
According to him, without God, the ADB would not have survived the turbulence that hit the banking sector in 2019, appreciating God for holding the bank in such difficult times.
“2020 is going to be marvelous, God is going to break protocols for us, our family and the ADB as a whole,” he added.
Mr John Kofi Mensah said the ADB brand is stronger and well positioned than it was some years ago, expressing hope that the bank witness massive improvement in its fortunes due to the many tactical measures it has initiated as part of its five-year strategic plan.
“Last year was good for the bank, we undertook strategic decisions including the green climate fund certification which brought us into contact with Posco International of Seoul, South Korea, with the positive effects to actualise in the course of the year,” he said.
Meanwhile, he stated that the Bank will continue to invest more into agribusiness, calling on customers to continue doing business with ADB.
