Covid-19: ICGC directs members not to come to church
The leadership of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) has directed that no local assembly of the Church should be opened to run-person church services until further notice.
The Church has further directed all local assemblies to continue with the virtual church services and join the general overseer on Sundays for service online.
This directive comes after the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, instructed that effective Friday, June 5, the process of easing restrictions would start with church and mosque activities.
The President said churches could hold one hour for each service with not more than 100 participants at a time.
“An abridged format for religious services can commence. Twenty-five percent attendance with a maximum number of congregants can worship at a time in church or mosque with the mandatory one-meter rule of social distancing between congregants,” the President added.
ICGC, however, a statement signed by the General Secretary for the ICGC, Rev. Morris Appiah sighted by Atinkaonline.com, said it will use the month of June to assess, monitor and evaluate all protocols in stimulation exercises with selected local assemblies in various districts.
It said the move will enable the church to determine the appropriateness and effectiveness of the protocols throughout the assemblies of the church nationwide.
According to the statement, the leadership of the Church will issue clear instructions on the next step to be followed by the church afterwards.
“We are mindful of the need for our congregation to gather and worship freely and openly. The current situation, however, demands that we also consider the health and safety of all congregants. We pray that God grants us the wisdom to offer the right guidance to the church in these uncertain times. I entreat everyone to keep praying fervently for the Church, Ghana and the nations. I am convinced we will come out of this better and stronger”, the statement added.
