The Eastern Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has ordered the temporary closure of Okuapeman and Mount Sinai Senior High Schools following violent clashes between students of the two schools.
The incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Akropong in the Akuapem North Municipality, resulting in the vandalisation of property and the burning of some facilities.
The cause of the clash is yet to be established.
Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, announced the closure when she led a REGSEC delegation to the schools to assess the situation.
She condemned the violence and called for investigations to identify and punish those responsible.
Mrs Awatey urged students to focus on their studies and avoid acts that destroy school property.
Meanwhile, the Headmaster of Okuapeman SHS, Rev. Richard Koranteng Afari, said six students sustained injuries during the clash.
Four have been treated and discharged, while two remain on admission at the hospital.
Eastern Regional Police Commander, DCOP Joseph Owusu Bempah, also warned that the police would deal with anyone found to have engaged in criminal activities during the disturbances.
