The Ministry of Education has called on the Ghana Police Service to intensify efforts to locate, arrest, and prosecute the interdicted Bole Senior High School teacher who has remained at large weeks after a nationwide manhunt was announced.

In a statement signed by Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak on Tuesday July 14, 2026, the Ministry expressed concern over the delay in apprehending the teacher, describing the situation as a matter of public interest given the seriousness of the alleged misconduct.

The Ministry said it had taken note of reports that the teacher recently granted an interview in which he claimed his actions were unintentional.

It added that a statement attributed to him, requesting a transfer to a village school, could provide useful leads for the Police in tracing his whereabouts.

According to the Ministry, intensified efforts, including digital tracking and engagement with sources that reported his recent comments, could assist in locating the teacher.

The statement further alleged that information available to the Ministry suggests the teacher’s conduct was deliberate, contrary to his recent claims.

“We have seen other videos of the same teacher engaged in similar inappropriate behaviour with other girls we believe are also students,” the Ministry said, adding that the teacher allegedly used his position to exploit vulnerable female students.

The Education Ministry reiterated that the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, had described the incident as unacceptable, shameful, and inconsistent with the standards expected of members of the teaching profession.

It expressed confidence in the ability of the Ghana Police Service to apprehend the suspect, urging members of the public with information on his whereabouts to report to the Police or the Ministry.

The Ministry also raised concerns over what it described as increasing cases of indiscipline involving teachers, heads, and students across educational institutions in the country.

It said such incidents threaten safe learning environments, weaken public confidence in schools, and undermine efforts to improve teaching and learning.

The Ministry noted that the Ghana Education Service (GES) has been directed to take firm action against all forms of misconduct in pre-tertiary institutions, with offenders facing appropriate sanctions under existing laws and regulations.

It added that a National Dialogue on tackling indiscipline in schools will soon be organised to bring together stakeholders to develop practical measures to address the issue.
