MP “mad” over new GETFUND distribution policy

Member of Parliament for Ho Central, Benjamin Komla Kpodo, says the new Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFUND) distribution formula is not in consonance with the usual formula.

According to him, the distribution formula brought to Parliament only states the amount that is to be given to the various sub-sectors.

He mentioned that the GHS 328,136,603.00 allocated to the tertiary institutions should have stated the exact amounts which would be given to the various public Universities and all institutions under GETFUND.

Senior High Schools are expected to fight for 256m Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFUND) cash following government's change in the formula for the allocation of the fund.

Per the new formula, Senior High Schools will have to justify the need for allocations and have no guarantees to receive funding often used to construct new laboratories, classrooms, and dormitories.

A document made available to the MP’s reveals a change in the formula which has raised some concerns from the Members of Parliament.

Speaking to Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive, Member of Parliament for Ho Central, Benjamin Komla Kpodo, stated that the current disbursement formula lacks details.

He refuted claims that the MPs' emergency projects and monitoring fund is an allowance for them (MPs)
