Jordan Ayew is a lazy player- Mo Shaban

Jordan Ayew

A Sports Journalist with Atinka TV, Mohammed Shaban (Mo Shaban) says one of the problems the Senior National Team, Black Stars is facing is the constant use of Jordan Ayew as a striker.

According to him, although Jordan is a good player, he is lazy and does not put in much effort on the field.

His comments come after Ghana lost 3-2 to Comoros in the ongoing African Cup of Nations.

The Black Stars lost 1-0 to Morocco when they played their first match in the ongoing African Cup of Nations.

Although the team needed an outright win to stand firm in the competition, it had a 1-1 drawn game with Gabon.

Despite these, many Ghanaians were hopeful that Ghana could win its game against Comoros but unfortunately, the match ended 3-2 against Ghana.

In the end, Ghana secured only one point, while Comoros also had 3 points and therefore both teams could not qualify for the next stage in the ongoing tournament.

Meanwhile, Morocco and Gabon have made it through the next stage of the competition.

Speaking on Atinka TV‘s morning show, Ghana Nie with Ekourba Gyasi Simpremu, Mo Shaban said “because Jordan is a lazy player, Ghana is missing Asamoah Gyan”.

“Ghana was facing problems when CK Akonnor was there and then Milovan Rajevac also came but couldn’t tackle these problems. The problem is the consistent use of Jordan Ayew, we are not saying he is a bad player, but he is a lazy player, he is not putting in much efforts and that is why we are missing Asamoah Gyan,” he said.

Reacting to comments by the coach that he does not have players like Asamoah Gyan in the team, Mo Shaban said Milovan Rajevac could have gotten a player like Asamoah Gyan in the team if he wanted to.

“You cannot have the whole set in a team, Portugal won the Euros finals in 2016 without Ronaldo. It is not about a player. Asamoah Gyan will play ball and go, players will not stay forever,” he said.

He urged the authorities to look at how to get players to replace him and others who might leave in future.
