A section of Ghanaians have expressed disappointment in the Senior National Team, Black Stars of Ghana over their performance at the ongoing African Cup of Nations.

The Black Stars lost 1-0 to Morocco when they played their first match in the ongoing African Cup of Nations.

Although the team needed an outright win to stand firm in the competition, it had a 1-1 drawn game with Gabon.

Despite these, many Ghanaians were hopeful that Ghana could win its game against Comoros but unfortunately, the match ended 3-2 against Ghana.

In the end, Ghana secured only one point, while Comoros also had 3 points and therefore both teams could not qualify for the next stage in the ongoing tournament.

Meanwhile, Morocco and Gabon have made it through the nest stage of the competition.

Speaking on Atinka TV‘s morning show, Ghana Nie with Ekourba Gyasi Simpremu, Mr Justice Joe Appiah said if governemnt does not invest more into the team and ensure that a contract is signed with the players for at least four or five years, Ghana will continue to have same problem it is facing at the AFCON.

He suggested that government strengthens its local league in order to have great players moving forward.

“Government should put in money so that the players are paid well so that the team will succeed,” he said.

He also urged the team to go for a win and urged the Coach to listen to advice from the technical team members.

For his part, a Sports Journalist with Atinka TV, Edward King Akuffo was optimistic that the Black Stars will give out their best in order to proceed to the next stage of the game.

He said the team does not have an option than to win in the game against Comoros which will be played at 7 p.m. today, Tuesday, January 18, 2022.
