Maiden Ghana Diaspora Investment Summit held to leverage investment


The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) has held the maiden Ghana Diaspora Investment Summit at the Kempinski Gold Coast City Hotel.

The event, themed “The New Normal, leveraging Diaspora investments to build back better” is aimed at creating an avenue to foster partnerships between local and Diaspora investors, and showcase Ghana as a choice destination for doing business, to spur the inflow of Diaspora Direct Investments.

The two-day programme brought together various primary stakeholders steering conversations on the Ghana-Diaspora business relationship. Among the host of esteemed speakers included the chief of staff Frema Osei-Opera who represented the president and members from diasporan community.

The summit is expected to engender a more constructive interaction with Africans in the diaspora and all people of African descent in areas such as trade and investment, as well as skills and knowledge development.

Yofi Grant, who is the CEO of the GIPC in his address said the summit will open the door for partnerships and encourage sustained home-based investments by persons in the diaspora.

The chief of staff, Frema Osei-Opare who represented the president also stated the key objective is to attract foreign direct investment.
