Man busted with 278 Parcels of Indian Hemp

42-year-old Henry Portuphy has been arrested by the Accra Regional Police Command for unlawful possession of 278 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp.

Briefing the media in Accra, the Greater Accra Regional Commander of the Ghana Police Service, DCOP Iddi Lansah Seidu said, “on the 1st December,2021 as at 9:00pm in the evening, the Regional Police gathered that the suspect Henry Portuphy an Indian Hemp distributor had taken a consignment suspected to be Indian Hemp and was about to distribute to his clients.

“Surveillance was mounted on his movement and the suspected Henry Portuphy was arrested at a secret location, “he added.

DCOP Iddi Lansah Seidu indicated that, the police trailed suspect Henry Portuphy and succeeded in arresting him at his hideout at Ablekuma Paradise, a suburb in the Greater Accra Region with 278 slabs of dried leaves all suspected to be Indian Hemp.

He said, the suspect has been arraigned before court while as investigations into the matter continue.

He warned farmer and land owners to desist from giving out their lands to be used for such purposes but rather take advantage of Governments flagship Planting for food and jobs programme.
