NDC wants to cancel policies because NPP is implementing them better-Buaben Asamoa

The Communications Director for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Buaben Asamoa has alleged that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) wants to cancel some policies and programmes because they are being implemented better by the NPP-Government.

According Buaben Asamoa, the NDC introduced the Teacher Licensure Exams but is now claiming it will cancel it when it comes to power because the NPP government is implementing it well.

Speaking at the press briefing, he said the NPP-government has improved the restored teacher training allowance, developed national teaching standards, introduced quality assurance to improve training of teachers, installed wifi in about 36 schools and improved the life of teachers just to mention a few.

However, he stated that all the NDC wants is power and not the wellbeing of the education sector.

Speaking on the double track system, he described the promise by NDC to abolish the double track system within 7 months if voted into power again as unrealistic.

He quizzed whose children will stay home and whose will go to school when they cancel the double track system.

He said the NDC will cancel the free SHS because they do not know where and how to raise funds for it.

TVET

Buaben Asamoa also rubbished the NDC’s promise to make Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) free when it comes to power, saying that Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) is already being funded by the NPP-Government.

According to him, the Government is investing in the revamping of 34 National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI) centres to improve TVET in the country.

He also said the government was building new NVTI centres and will purchase vehicles for the centres to improve the sector.
