The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has held an emergency meeting following the conviction and 20-year jail sentence handed to the party’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, in the Samreboi mining case.

In a statement signed by the NPP General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party said the meeting brought together its national leadership, Flagbearer and legal team to review the court’s judgment and decide on the next course of action.

According to the statement, the party is carefully studying the judgment before announcing its official position. It said the decisions reached after the meeting will be communicated to the public in due course.

The NPP also appealed to its members to remain calm, united and disciplined during what it described as a challenging period. The party urged supporters to rally behind the leadership as it responds to the court’s decision.
