Mahama: Business confidence is down under Akufo-Addo

Former president John Dramani Mahama has said that business confidence is down under the Nana Addo led Administration.

Speaking at the 9th Delegates Congress of the National Democratic Congress at the Ghana International Trade Fair Center at La Saturday, he said: “…today’s business confidence is down and economic activity is at a standstill. People are crying of hardship in the economy.”

According to him, development under his administration was visible for all to see.

He further lashed out at the Akufo Addo administration, saying its approach to the banking crises has created panic amongst the country’s financial institutions.

“…the collapse of banks under this current government is causing panic to citizens and has affected small and medium enterprise lending and has led to significant job losses,” he stressed.

Touching on corruption, ex-president Mahama noted that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had better records in terms of regime accountability.

“The NPP has proven in government it is always reluctant to pursue their own despite the swelling stench of corruption around their administration.”

“The true test of fighting corruption is to hold your people accountable when they go wrong and so far the president has failed this test,” he fired.

“…We must be proud of our party and proud of our records in government” he charged NDC members.

Presidential aspirants are citizens too; listen to them- Mahama jabs Nana

Former President John Dramani Mahama has advised President Akufo- Addo to make time to listen to presidential aspirants since they are citizens too.

Mahama, who was addressing National Democratic Congress (NDC) delegates at their ninth National Delegates Congress at the Trade Fair Center at La in Accra, was responding to the president’s recent assertion that he (Akufo-Addo) only responds to presidential candidates and not presidential aspirants.

“I’m sure you have seen and heard some of the presidential aspirants of the leading opposition party taking jabs at my government in order, ostensibly, to prop up their campaign.”

“And whilst at it, they are desperately trying to get me to respond to them. Let me state here and now, for the records that President Akufo-Addo will not respond to presidential aspirants” President Akufo stated

But former President Mahama reminded the president that “Presidential aspirants are also citizens and not spectators.”

NDC needs to rescue Ghana from Akufo –Addo’s abysmal performance

Former President John Dramani Mahama says the NDC deserves to come back in 2020 to rescue Ghana from the abysmal performance of the Akufo-Addo administration.

Speaking at the 9th Delegates Congress of the National Democratic Congress at the Ghana International Trade Fair Center at La, he said Ghanaians are being overburdened with bad economic policies by the Akufo-Addo administration.

According to him, grass root of the party, hardworking farmers, artisans, teachers, nurses and other public workers, have all seen the  clear difference between ‘’our great party NDC  and the NPP” and that they(NDC)  should work hard to win the 2020 elections.

‘’We must be proud of our party and be proud of our records in government over the past years. With the opportunity we have had to serve in government, the people of Ghana have seen rapid progress in terms of development and improvement in economic activity.

NDC polls: Ofosu Ampofo, Koku Anyidoho likely to win – Ben Ephson

Pollster Ben Ephson has said he “will not be surprised” if former National Organiser of the NDC Samuel Ofosu Ampofo emerges national chairman at the party’s congress to elect new national executives today.

Also, the experienced election pundit says deputy general secretary Koku Anyidoho may topple his boss in the polls if he plays his cards well.

“If what it was as of the last two days is anything, I won’t be surprised if Ofosu Ampofo wins,” he told Starr News Regina Borley Bortey in an interview Saturday.

On Koku’s chances Ephson said: ” If Koku is able to use Asiedu Nketia’s own words against him, I won’t be surprised if he wins the day”.

Over 9000 delegates are expected to take part in the polls.

Meanwhile, Former President John Mahama has advised the NDC delegates to vote for executives they can trust.

According to him, Ghanaians are counting on the NDC to deliver them from the hardships inflicted on them by the Akufo-Addo government hence the NDC cannot fail.

In a solidarity message ahead of the election, Mahama said Ghanaians are willing to change government in the 2020 elections.

“Across the seven regions I have so far visited, Ashanti being the latest, the message from our grassroots is one- “to unite and work to deliver Ghanaians from the unprecedented hardship imposed by the lying Akuffo-Addo administration,” Mahama wrote.

10 ways to tell your man you love him without actually saying a word

If you’ve been in a relationship for more than a few months now, you know that there are many ways to show your man that you care. Saying the actual words is great in the beginning of your relationship (but not too early!), yet later on you realize that love is more than just saying pretty words. It’s about respect, attention, caring, and sometimes even putting his needs over yours. There are more than a few things you can do to tell your man you love him without actually saying it. Here’s what you can try right now.

Listen to him
Actually listening to your guy when he wants to talk to you on a subject that doesn’t seem particularly exciting is the best thing you can do. The thing is, it’s harder for men to open up and talk about emotions or other vulnerable stuff women have no problem chatting about. Yet they still like to connect to you through conversation. Put away that phone of yours and just listen to him. You never know where that conversation will lead you!

 Brag about him

Do it preferably in front of other people. Brag about what a great man he is and how much he means to you and the way your life has changed for the better once you’ve gotten together. Say it only if you mean it! He will definitely appreciate your sincerity and, well, love. Works just as great when you do it when no one else is around.

Tune into his needs

Make him a cup of coffee in the morning while you do one for yourself, buy a pack of his favourite cookies, or plan a night out at the cinema watching the movie he’s been waiting for ages.

Tell him he’s more handsome

Or any other male celebrity he knows you find incredibly appealing. It might boost his ego a bit, but his confidence as a man will also go sky high. Nothing says ‘I love you’ more than admitting he’s the most handsome man on Earth.

Display your affection publicly

Long gone are the days when the two of you were all over each other no matter where you went. But why quit all the lovey-dovey stuff once you’ve become an established couple? Show him that you care with hugs, touches, and affectionate kisses. Yes, right in front of everyone. And don’t forget about holding hands!

Give him his ‘guy time’

Do it not like you’re doing him a favour, but like you actually mean it (which, by the way, you should). Whether it’s gonna be fishing, watching a football match together, or simply going out into a bar, he’ll appreciate it if you understand his needs. Don’t wait for him to say anything, suggest it yourself, and see how pleasantly surprised he’ll be.

Prepare his favourite food

This is one of the easiest, yet most effective ways to show your love without saying a word. Both men and women love tasty food and by now you surely know most of his favourites. If you aren’t that much into cooking, buy a box of those doughnuts he loves so much or order a pizza.

Plan a romantic night

Usually guys are responsible for being all romantic with flowers, chocolate, and other shows of affection. But you’re together in this relationship and men love romantic stuff just as much! So go ahead and plan a date in a rooftop restaurant or a night out watching the starry sky. It will mean a world to him!

Help make his dreams come true

You might not be able to buy him a ticket to Africa to do that safari he’s been dreaming about since he was a kid, but there might be something else that won’t kill your budget and will still make him happy like a child. Did he always want to have a dog, but parents never allowed him one while he was growing up? Or did he always want to learn how to cook sushi, but never got to it because of various reasons? You don’t have to think big, just choose something he really cares about.

Learn to love his hobby

This might be a bit tricky one, but staying in tune with his hobby is one of the best ways to show him you love him and really care about what he does. Whether it’s fishing, golf, football, books, movies, or latest news, learn a little bit about it and throw in some words on occasion. He’ll be really impressed!

2019 budget  quite ambitious and would beneficial to business – GUTA  boss

President of the Ghana Union of Traders Association, GUTA, Dr. Joseph Obeng, has described the 2019 budget statement as “quite ambitious” and sets to benefit businesses and trading across the country.

And that per the various projects to be implemented next year by the government, particularly with amount of money involved it is clear there will be massive cash flow in the system to push up businesses.

For instance, the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta in reading the 2019 budget statement noted that US$ 2 billion and US$ 50 will be used for infrastructure development and completion of health facilities.

Additional US$ 400 is earmarked to support agriculture sector, as well as GH¢1 billion mortgage and housing finance fund to support private sector in expanding access to housing and deepen the local mortgage and construction finance market.

Speaking in an interview with Kaakyire Ofori Ayim on “Simpieso” Dr Joseph Obeng explained that the execution of infrastructure projects has been very slow in the few years making business and commerce quite slow.

According to him, government has the strongest financial muscles and therefore rolling out the heavily-funded projects will give some financial boost to the business environment.

He however submitted that government failed to address some concerns raised by GUTA members about taxes.

The union met with government earlier on and encouraged the finance ministry to widen the tax net to capture the private sector more.

It is estimated by GRA that out of six million Ghanaians supposed who are to pay tax only 1.5 million pay taxes. More shockingly, only 200,000 pay tax at the private sector.

And in doing so, there must be incentives by government to help ensure tax compliance. He also explained that with the introduction of Common External Tariff (CET), their duties on goods have double.

Members of the association have lamented the high cost of the duty and were expecting to hear some reduction in the budget but to their disappointment, Ken Ofori Atta never coughed about it.
