One person has died and five others sustained injuries following a road crash at Asubuo on the Accra–Kumasi Highway on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.
The accident involved a Kia Rhino and a MAN Diesel truck. The collision left one person trapped inside the Kia Rhino and required the intervention of firefighters to rescue the casualty.
Firefighters from the Suhum Municipal Fire Station were dispatched to the scene after receiving a distress call. Upon arrival, the crew assessed the situation and used specialised extrication equipment to free the trapped person from the vehicle.
The rescued casualty was subsequently transported to the Suhum Government Hospital for medical attention.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said five people sustained various degrees of injuries in the crash.
A male pedestrian was also reportedly knocked down during the incident and died at the scene.
Both the Kia Rhino and the MAN Diesel truck sustained damage in the collision.
The incident has since been reported to the relevant authorities, with investigations underway to determine the exact circumstances that led to the crash.
The latest accident highlights the risks faced by motorists and pedestrians along the busy Accra–Kumasi Highway and the need for road users to exercise caution to prevent further loss of lives.
