PNC scribe scores NPP's 1D 1F grade "D" and "F"

The General Secretary of the People’s National Convention Party, (PNC) Atik Mohammed, has equated the NPP’s 1 District 1 Factory Policy to the worst grade in the West African Secondary School Exams Certificate(WASSCE) “D” and “F”.

According to the PNC scribe, the much touted One-District, One-Factory policy which the NPP made political capital out of has   been a total failure. In that regard, he said the policy can be likened to WASSCE grades “D” and “F” connoting a failure in terms of his assessment.

Speaking on Accra based Asempa FM on Thursday, Atik noted that he was full of hope when the NPP announced their intention to execute the 1 D 1 F policy, but however, his hopes has been dashed with what is happening on the ground.  “If the NPP government had invested much into the one district, one factory project a lot of unemployment situations would have been addressed in the country…there wouldn’t have been the need to introduce the NABCO policy, When I first heard of the One-district, One-factory policy, I said to myself that it was the game changer, but the progress of the policy has been very slow with not much to show” he said.

He was of however of the view that, that are several prospects going forward with regards to executing the policy effectively.

As part of its campaign promises the NPP in its 2016 manifesto promised   an industrial policy, 1D1F to address youth unemployment and also help drive Ghana’s industrialization efforts. Some works have begun on the establishment of new factories and the rejuvenating of non-operational factories in Ghana but critics have continuously lambasted the government for the slow pace of the much touted policy.
