President Akufo-Addo files nominations forms

The President of Ghana and Candidate for ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has filed his nominations forms for the upcoming general elections.

He personally submitted the forms at the head office of the Electoral Commission (EC) together his his Vice President, Mahamadu Bawumia, the General Secretary of the NPP, John Boadu and other executive members of the party.

The President is reported to have filed his forms minutes after 11 a.m. after filling it correctly.

Speaking after filing his forms, he commended the EC for compiling a new voters’ register successfully and was also of the belief that the EC can deliver a free, fair, transparent and peaceful elections come December 7.

For her part, the EC Chairperson, Mrs Jean Mensa also commended the President for submitting his forms in person, saying that it was a good example for the other parties to emulate.

She made it known that the EC has set up two committees to ensure the forms are taken through the right processes before it is authenticated.

The two committees are made up of a technical team which will be in charge of checking whether candidates do qualify based on their age, taxes amongst others.

For the IT Committee, the EC said it will ensure that those who endorsed the candidates are eligible voters or not.

Meanwhile, other candidates are expected to also file their nominations forms today and therefore Atinkaonline.com will update the public when necessary.
