President John Dramani Mahama has submitted the names of two new ministerial nominees to Parliament for approval, alongside the reassignment of two ministers to other key portfolios.
The nominations, submitted in accordance with Article 78(1) of the 1992 Constitution, are aimed at filling the respective ministerial positions and realigning responsibilities within government.
The President has nominated Dr. Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings, MP, as Minister-designate for the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology.
Also nominated is Mahama Ayariga, MP, who has been named Minister-designate for the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.
As part of the changes, President Mahama has reassigned two serving ministers to new portfolios.
Kenneth Gilbert Adjei has been reassigned to the Ministry of Defence, while Ahmed Ibrahim, MP, has been reassigned to the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources.
The nominees will be subject to parliamentary scrutiny and approval before they can formally assume their respective portfolios.
The latest changes form part of President Mahama’s ongoing adjustments to his ministerial team as his administration continues to implement its policy agenda.
Under Article 78(1) of the Constitution, ministers of state are appointed by the President with the prior approval of Parliament.
