The General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) says that the current shake up in government by the President, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo did not meet the expectations of the populace.
Communication from the presidency Thursday indicated the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, had made changes to his government.
In view of the shake-up in government, Mr. Nketiah has therefore opined that the Ghanaians were not necessarily interested in the promotion and transfer of ministers, however, they expected that the number of the ministers in the Akufo-Addo led administration would reduce by a larger margin.
“I don’t know if the president is done with the real issue that the Ghanaian populace were expecting of him…the number of ministers in his government is the biggest issue.”
“A country like Ghana shouldn’t employ the services of the 110 ministers…Ghanaians expected more that in the wake of reshuffling…at least 20 ministers should have been dropped,” he said.
Speaking on Accra based Okay FM Friday, he said a few of the re-assignments were in order. He said Peter Amewu is a firm man who can take some decisions that would bring about development in the energy sector.
He was also of the view that Hon. Mustapha Hameed shouldn’t have spent a year at the Ministry of Information because “he clearly demonstrated his ‘vagueness’ in that sector”.
Descending further on the former Minister for Information, “General Mosquito” said there was always a communication deficiency and contrasting information between the ministry of information and some members at the presidency.
“Even on the development of this Ameri saga, and the myth around it, you could realize defunct communication from him,” he declared.
He also said that Otiko Djaba’s re-assignment is a step in the right direction.
