Shatta Wale, Medikal, others granted bail

Embattled Dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale born Charles Nii Armah Mensah, has been granted bail by an Accra Circuit Court presided by Mr Emmanuel Essandoh.

The artiste was granted bail after  being remanded into prison custody for 5 days by an Accra Circuit 3 Court.

He was granted a self-recognisance bail in the sum of GHc100,000.

Shatta Wale’s accomplices, Kojo Owusu Koranteng, also known as Nana Dope, Eric Venator, aka Gangee and Iddriss Yussif have also been granted bail in the sum of 100,000 each with one common surety.

Shatta Wale was arrested for spreading false information in connection with the alleged gun attack on him.

Reports on Monday, 18th October 2021, claimed that Shatta Wale had been shot by unknown gunmen as prophesied by a pastor popularly known as ‘Jesus Ahuofe’.

The police earlier arrested Kojo Owusu Koranteng, also known as Nana Dope and Eric Venator, alias Gangee, on Tuesday evening for allegedly spreading false information with the intention to cause fear and panic.

The arrest of the suspects was in response to the alleged circulation of false claims on the alleged gunshot attack on Shatta Wale.

Preliminary investigations by the Police revealed the widely reported gunshot attack on Shatta Wale Monday, 18th October, 2021 was a hoax.

Shatta Wale granted self-recognizant bail of GHS100,000.

Popular Rapper Medikal born, Samuel Frimpong, has also been granted bail.

The “Omo ada” hit maker also arrested on 21th October 2021 for displaying a weapon on social media.

An Accra Circuit Court judge on 22nd October 2021 remanded the artiste into prison custody for five days, after the rapper who has been charged with display of arms and ammunition, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The two celebrities and their accomplices will reappear in Court on November 9 2021.
