‘Side Chick’ loses court case against Chief Finance officer

A High Court in Accra has thrown out the case against Chief Finance officer, Ernest Kwasi Nimako.

In January 2023, Deborah Seyram Adablah filed a suit against Ernest Kwasi Nimako, for failing to abide by the obligations of an intimate relationship they had.

After Seyram Adablah’s suit, the former Chief Finance Officer of the bank also filed an application praying the court to strike the case of Adablah.

In a latest development, a Court presided over by Justice John Bosco Nabarese today Tuesday, November 28 the held that although the relationship between the two was immoral and was not in conformity to acceptance of society, there was no reasonable cause of action arising  from the writ filed by Adablah.

The court also held that the foundation of the relationship was one that the Court should not be invited to give judicial stamps to adding : “You cannot recover the price of something you have committed into an immoral act”. 

Deborah Seyram Adablah was slapped with a cost of GH¢10, 000. 

Background

Deborah Seyram Adablah, a former National Service personnel of a Bank in Accra, filed a suit against one of the bank’s managers, Ernest Kwasi Nimako, for failing to abide by the obligations of an intimate relationship they had.

Deborah Seyram Adablah, the plaintiff, stated in a 7-page writ of summons obtained by atinkaonline.com that she agreed to be in a relationship with Ernest Kwasi Nimako because her happiness at work would be jeopardized if she did not give in to the relationship.

The writ of summons also added that the plaintiff had turned down an opportunity to be a permanent staff member after her National Service due to the manager’s promise of making life comfortable for her by paying her rent, giving her capital for her business, giving her a new car, and marrying her after divorcing his substantive wife.

However, the writ stated that the manager did well in fulfilling some of his obligations until their relationship became complicated.

Deborah Seyram Adablah was demanding that the rest of the promises be fulfilled, including the payment of the remaining two-year rent as well as a change of ownership of the Honda car he bought for her as part of the promises.

The plaintiff is also suing the First Atlantic Bank for allowing senior officers to enter into relationships with unwilling subordinates while using the females as bait to get rich customers to open accounts with the company.
