Artificial Intelligence

For his part, the President of Wisconsin, Prof Obeng Mireku also stated that the school had started teaching students Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance research amongst others.

He was of the view that Artificial intelligence, when integrated with practical teaching, becomes a powerful ally in preparing graduates for the challenges of the future.

“We acknowledge our responsibility as guardians of education who must redefine the boundaries of tertiary education to prepare our graduates not just for today; but for the challenges of tomorrow. This means embracing Al as a powerful tool to enhance research, teaching and learning, foster critical thinking as well as cultivate innovative problem-solving skills. However, we must also remember that the essence of education extends beyond technical knowledge,” he said.

He said the University’s mission is not only to impart information but to cultivate wisdom, empathy, and adaptability.

“That is why we continue to make relevant investments in the right areas because we understand that knowledge alone is not enough; it must be accompanied by practical skills and experience,” he added.

He urged the graduates to remember that their practical education equips them to be leaders, problem solvers, and agents of change as they move into the world of work.

“As you, our graduates, step out into the world, you carry with you not only the knowledge you’ve acquired but also the hands-on experience that sets you apart. The deployment of artificial intelligence in our teaching methodologies through the use of state-of-the-art practical learning tools such as the state-of-the-art Nursing Skills Laboratory, the School of Communication Studies, Broadcasting Studio, our well-stocked library and ICT laboratory provides students with the opportunity to gain real-world experience in a controlled environment while providing the resources necessary to support both traditional and digital learning. These initiatives represent our dedication to redefining the boundaries of tertiary education,” He said.

Prof Obeng Mireku continued,”With all these tools, you have been taught to adapt and innovate in the face of change, and this is your greatest asset in the age of artificial intelligence. Wisconsin International University College, Ghana, is proud to lead the way in this endeavor, and we are excited to see how you will shape the future with the skills and knowledge you have gained here.”

He added,”At the recently held induction ceremony of the Ghana Bar Association, it didn’t come as a surprise when as many as 61 students of Wisconsin Law Faculty, more than twice the number from last year, were among those called to the Bar. This achievement not only reflects the quality of teaching and mentorship we offer.”
