The 2007 Year Group of the St. Mary’s Old Girls Association (SMOGA) is celebrating 18 years of sisterhood, truth, virtue, and impact — and they’re doing so in a way that gives back to where it all began.

While the 18th year may not be a typical anniversary to mark, for the SMOGA 2007 Year Group, it presents a meaningful opportunity to reconnect and give back to the community that helped shape their lives and dreams.

As part of activities to mark this exciting celebration, dubbed #18YearsStrong, the group has lined up a series of events:

  • Saturday, June 21 – Health Walk and Aerobics
  • Tuesday, June 24 – Wellness Session on Women’s Nutritional Health
  • Friday, June 27Merries 2007 Special ‘Give Back’
  • Sunday, June 29 – Thanksgiving Service at St. Mary’s Senior High School, Korle Gonno

The celebrations will kick off with a Health Walk on Saturday, June 21, 2025, starting from the Access Bank Head Office Car Park in Osu and ending at the Black Star Square. The walk serves as both a chance to reconnect and stay active and a symbolic journey reflecting the group’s commitment to personal and collective well-being.

A key highlight of the anniversary will be the ‘Merries 07 Give Back’ donation activity, during which the Year Group will present essential items to the Korle Bu Polyclinic in support of healthcare delivery and community welfare. This act of giving is their heartfelt way of saying “thank you” to the community that nurtured them.

“We know the 18th year isn’t typically a big deal, but for us, it’s the beginning of something bigger. It’s not just about where we started — it’s about where we’re going. This celebration is a small one, but it’s packed with purpose,” said Naa Norley Boateng, Organising Secretary, SMOGA 2007 Year Group.

The SMOGA 2007 Year Group warmly invites the public, fellow SMOGA alumni, BLEOO alumni, and well-wishers to join them in celebrating and amplifying the spirit of giving back. This celebration is more than a reunion — it is a reflection of the power and contribution alumni associations can offer to the image, legacy, and progress of their alma maters.
