Two women have tragically lost their lives following a fatal road accident at Ampekrom Junction near Nkawkaw on the Accra-Kumasi highway.
The incident, also left two others, including the driver, with life-threatening injuries.
Nkawkaw Municipal Fire Commander, DOII Samuel Mantey, confirmed the details in an interview with Atinka News.
He said the Ghana National Fire Service received an emergency call and rushed to the scene, only to find a cargo truck with registration number ER 3428-X had collided with a stationary DAFF truck parked by the roadside.

The impact of the crash killed the two female passengers instantly, while the injured were transported to the Holy Family Hospital in Nkawkaw for emergency care. The bodies of the deceased have since been deposited at the hospital’s morgue.

Commander Mantey used the occasion to caution drivers, especially during festive seasons, to remain alert and avoid dangerous road practices that can lead to such unfortunate incidents.
The incident has once again reignited concerns about road safety on the busy Accra-Kumasi stretch, especially as traffic increases during holiday periods.
