Several residents have been rendered homeless following a fire outbreak at Aboabo Pelele in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, August 27, 2026, according to some of the affected residents.
The cause of the fire remains unknown. Several properties and personal belongings were destroyed, leaving many victims without shelter.
Some of the victims, who spoke to our reporter, Sofoba Kwame Afrifah, appealed to the government, organisations and benevolent individuals to come to their aid.
One of the victims said, “We woke up this morning and everything was on fire. We have lost everything. We are appealing to the government to come to our aid.”
Officials of the Ghana National Fire Service are yet to provide details on the cause of the fire. Investigations are expected to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The affected residents are appealing for urgent assistance, including temporary accommodation and relief supplies.
