Former Health Minister, Dr Bernard Okoe-Boye, has been elected Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He won the party’s regional elections held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, with 490 votes, defeating Alfred Boye, who polled 172 votes.
Dr Okoe-Boye won by a margin of 318 votes.
His election comes at a time the NPP is seeking to rebuild its strength in the Greater Accra Region following its poor performance in the 2024 general elections.
The party, which previously held 14 of the region’s 34 parliamentary seats, now has only five.
Dr Okoe-Boye is therefore expected to lead efforts to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures and help the NPP reclaim some of the seats it lost ahead of the 2028 elections.
Other elected regional executives include Joana Frances Adda as First Vice Chairperson, Prince Obeng as Second Vice Chairman, Daniel Parker Odarlai France as Secretary, and Gideon Nii Ampim Sackey as Deputy Secretary.
Solomon Assante was elected Communications Officer, while Moses Abor won the Organiser position. Michael Danquah was elected Treasurer.
Benjamin Nargeh won the Youth Organiser position, with Naomi Akosua Owusu elected Women’s Organiser.
Meanwhile, Atinka News’ Philip Azu reported that tensions emerged after the election, with Secretary-elect Daniel Parker Odarlai France reportedly directing insults at outgoing Regional Chairman Divine Agorhum.
Parker accused Mr Agorhum of plotting against his bid in the election. Despite the disagreement, Parker retained his position as Regional Secretary.
The new regional executives are expected to begin work on strengthening the NPP’s organisation and support base across Greater Accra ahead of the 2028 general elections.
