Ghana Link Network Services Ltd., operators of the Integrated Customs Management System (ICUMS), has reaffirmed its commitment to stakeholders amid ongoing system performance enhancements aimed at boosting the reliability and efficiency of Ghana’s trade facilitation infrastructure.
In a statement issued by the company’s Public Relations Department, Ghana Link acknowledged recent concerns over intermittent downtimes experienced on the ICUMS platform in recent weeks. The company expressed deep appreciation to stakeholders, including importers, exporters, freight forwarders, and shipping lines, for their continued support and patience.
According to the release, technical teams have worked closely with key partners to identify the root causes of the disruptions. As a result, a significant infrastructure upgrade is currently underway to address these issues. The upgrade aims to increase the system’s capacity and resilience in handling growing volumes of trade-related data.
“Working hand-in-hand with key stakeholders, our technical teams have identified the root causes of the challenges. In response, a major upgrade of the ICUMS infrastructure is currently underway,” the statement noted.
In addition to hardware and software improvements, Ghana Link is collaborating with Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to bolster the internet backbone supporting the ICUMS platform. This effort is expected to result in faster and more stable access for users across the country.
The company anticipates the comprehensive system improvements will be completed by the end of the third quarter of 2025. Once implemented, the upgrades are expected to eliminate recurring issues and significantly enhance performance, delivering a seamless experience for all users.
Ghana Link concluded by reiterating its dedication to providing a world-class trade facilitation system that not only supports business operations but also strengthens government revenue and the broader national economy.
“We humbly appeal to our cherished stakeholders to continue to bear with us during this crucial period. Your confidence in ICUMS has been the bedrock of its success,” the company said.
Ghana Link’s Integrated Customs Management System plays a critical role in Ghana’s import and export processes, and the upgrades are seen as vital to supporting the country’s rapidly growing trade sector.
