Black Stars Name Squad for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers

Head coach of the Black Stars, Carlos Queiroz, has unveiled a 22-man squad for Ghana’s upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign, with a blend of experienced players and emerging talents earning call-ups.

The squad features key names including captain Thomas Partey, Jordan Ayew, Inaki Williams and Mohammed Salisu as Ghana prepares for crucial qualifiers on the road to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

In goal, local-based shot stopper Benjamin Asare of Accra Hearts of Oak earns a place alongside Lawrence Ati-Zigi and Joseph Anang.

The defensive department includes experienced campaigners such as Alexander Djiku, Gideon Mensah and Alidu Seidu, while youngsters Caleb Yirenkyi and Kojo Peprah Oppong also make the list.

Midfield responsibilities will be led by Thomas Partey and Elisha Owusu.

Up front, the Black Stars will rely on the attacking firepower of Antoine Semenyo, Kamaldeen Sulemana, Ernest Nuamah and Joseph Paintsil. Young forward Fatawu Issahaku and striker Prince Adu Kwabena have also been included.

The squad announcement has already generated excitement among Ghanaian football fans as the Black Stars seek qualification to the global tournament set to be hosted in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
