The Grassroots Alliance for Victory 2028, Western Region Branch, has called for the immediate resignation of the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, over what it describes as the chaotic conduct of the party’s constituency executive elections.

At an emergency press conference, the group’s convener, Benjamin Sarfo, expressed concern over directives allegedly issued by the General Secretary ahead of the just-ended and ongoing constituency elections, claiming they contributed to confusion and dissatisfaction among delegates.

According to the Alliance, delegates were informed that no transportation, food, drinks or water would be provided during the elections, a decision the group said negatively affected party members who had travelled to participate in the electoral process.

The group argued that delegates, who volunteer their time and resources to strengthen the party at the grassroots level, deserved better logistical support during the elections.

The Alliance also attributed incidents of violence and disorder reported at some polling centres to what it described as inadequate planning and poor coordination of the electoral process.

It further questioned the party’s financial management, citing explanations that the NPP was experiencing financial constraints and was therefore unable to provide operational funds, transportation, travel allowances or support for police deployment during the elections.

According to the group, those claims appear inconsistent with reports that the General Secretary had previously paid nomination fees for aspirants across the country. It consequently called for greater transparency and accountability regarding the party’s finances.

Based on these concerns, the Grassroots Alliance for Victory 2028 formally called on Justin Kodua Frimpong to step down as General Secretary of the NPP.

The party leadership is yet to publicly respond to the allegations and demands made by the group.
