Gabonese President H.E. Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema has called on African nations to take greater responsibility for safeguarding the continent’s peace and security, stressing that lasting solutions to regional challenges must be led by Africans themselves.

President Oligui Nguema made the remarks during a bilateral meeting with President John Dramani Mahama as part of his three-day official visit to Ghana.

The Gabonese leader reaffirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Ghana, particularly in securing the Gulf of Guinea against maritime piracy, illegal trafficking and other transnational security threats.

President Oligui Nguema underscored the importance of collective action among African countries to tackle insecurity and promote stability across the continent.
