The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has successfully contained a domestic fire at Teshie LEKMA in Accra, preventing the flames from spreading to nearby buildings.
According to the GNFS, the fire occurred behind Prolife Pharmacy on the morning of Sunday, August 2, 2026.
A distress call was received at 10:00 a.m., with firefighters from the Trade Fair Fire Station dispatched just a minute later at 10:01 a.m.
The firefighting team arrived at the scene at 10:16 a.m. and immediately began containment operations.
Through what the Service described as a swift response, firefighters brought the blaze under control, preventing further damage to surrounding structures.
Although some personal belongings within the affected property were partially destroyed by the fire, no injuries or fatalities were reported.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined and remains under investigation by the Ghana National Fire Service.
Following successful suppression and damping-down operations, the crew, led by Officer-in-Charge ADO I Lawrence Lamptey, returned safely to the station at 11:06 a.m.
The GNFS continues to urge the public to observe fire safety measures and promptly report fire outbreaks to enable firefighters to respond quickly and minimise damage.
