The Commercial National Motor Riders Union (CNMRU) has rejected claims that the government has abandoned or failed commercial motorcycle riders after using them during the 2024 general election campaign.
According to the Union, such allegations, attributed to a group calling itself the Okada Riders Association of Ghana (ORAG), are false and do not reflect the realities on the ground.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, September 3,2026, National Spokesperson for the Union, Pascal Setsoafia said the government of President John Dramani Mahama had demonstrated a clear commitment to addressing the concerns of commercial motorbike riders, particularly their long-standing demand for the legalisation and proper regulation of commercial motorcycle operations in Ghana.
He explained that following the 2024 general elections, government established a technical committee to undertake research and consultations toward the legalisation and regulation of Okada operations.
Pascal Setsoafia said it has actively participated in the process, representing the interests of commercial motor riders across the country.
