Weija Gbawe MP supports 1,800 SHS freshers with school supplies

Weija Gbawe Member of Parliament Jerry Ahmed Shaib has supported 1,800 newly admitted Senior High School (SHS) students in the constituency with essential school items under his Starter Pack initiative.

The beneficiaries received mattresses, chop boxes, trunks and backpacks to help them prepare for their transition into secondary education.

The initiative is aimed at easing the financial burden on parents and guardians who are required to purchase several items for their wards before they report to school.

According to the MP, the cost of preparing students for SHS can place significant pressure on families, particularly those struggling to meet the requirements outlined in school prospectuses.

He said the intervention was introduced to provide some relief to parents while ensuring that students have the basic items needed to begin their education comfortably.

Jerry Ahmed Shaib also encouraged the beneficiaries to take their studies seriously and make good use of the opportunity provided to them.

He said the support was not only intended to address the immediate needs of the students but also to motivate them to work harder and aspire to become productive members of society.

The Starter Pack initiative forms part of efforts by the Weija Gbawe MP and his constituency team to support education and assist families with the cost of sending their children to school.
