He said this on Atinka TV’s morning show, Ghana Nie prior to the match between Ghana and Madagascar which will be held in Kumasi today, November 17,2023.

This is to enable them justify their inclusion in the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup which will be hosted in the United States of America (USA), Canada and Mexico.

The Black Stars and Barea of Madagascar are in Group I with Mali, Comoros, the Central African Republic (CAR) and Chad.

Per regulations, the winners of each group will qualify directly to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and the four best group runners-up will advance to a play-off to determine which team will advance to the inter-confederation play-offs.

Speaking on Atinka TV’s morning show, Eric Okyei said,”It is prayers that we are praying because if you look at the last matches they played, a country like USA that Asamoah Gyan used to conquer, and now they score us many even in the first half,”

Despite resorting to prayer, Eric Okyei was of the belief that Ghana can get those former players in the likes of Michael Essien, Asamoah Gyan, Abedi Ayew Pele, if the coach is able to manage the team very well.
