Covid-19: Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital begs for public support

Ankaful

The Deputy Head of Nursing Services at the Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital, Bismack Tuffour, is appealing to the public to come to their aide.

According to him, Government is doing its best to sustain the center but the support from the families of their clients is not coming like before, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The reason why we need them [donations] is because, they [house service devises] get spoilt very often. Some of them were destroyed by our clients but we cannot charge them due to their mental status”.

He made the appeal when the Afoa Impact Foundation donated some items to the Hospital.

“We appreciate the efforts that they’ve made to bring these items far away from Accra. As Oliver twist always say, we ask for more,” he appealed.

The gesture, according to the Founder of the Afoa Impact Foundation, Linda Afoa Amoako, forms part of the Foundation’s corporate social responsibility. She, therefore, appealed to the public to pay special attention to these centers especially those outside Accra.

“In other parts of the world, special care is given to these people (mentally challenged) but the narrative is different here. Every human being deserves a sense of belonging irrespective of whatever he/she is going through. Their state doesn’t paint them different from being humans. Let’s remember them in our support programmes.”
