Double tracking laudable, community libraries should be revived for students – National PTA Chair

National Chairman of Parents Teacher Association of Ghana, Alexander Yaw Danso, has also had his take on the double tracking system that is to be introduced as part of the government’s plan to make changes in the second cycle institutions which he says will be of essence.

Speaking with Atinka News Tuesday, he said, “I think the programme will be of help, and quality SHS may also be achieved”.

“If other people have been able to implement this system in their countries and they have succeeded, why can’t it succeed in Ghana?” He asked.

“I don’t think the system will bring about congestion and it will also make the classrooms busy at all times.”

He also dismissed allegations that it will be a shift system as has been widely circulated by individuals who not to have the right details and understanding about the double track system.

He, however, noted that if the programme would be successful, it will also largely depend on all parents. To this, he says that there is the need to sensitize parents on the introduction of the double track system.

“…the introduction of the double tracking system isn’t something that should put fear in parents, they only need to be sensitized to ensure a successful its implementation” the chairman said.

He also pleaded with the government to revive all community libraries to help in the development of students when they are on vacation. Proposing a source of fund to revive community libraries, he suggested that MPs should help in reviving community libraries through the common funds they receive.

According to Mr. Danso, an establishment and a resurgence of dormant community libraries will enable students to academically equip themselves.
