SESA Africa significantly expands its support for Ghana’s faith networks

The Social Emotional Skills Academy (SESA Africa) has expanded its support to Ghana’s faith networks; enabling them to create future leaders, qualified to build emotional resilience within congregations.

A significant seminar event took place on Saturday 14th July 2018, where SESA Africa Director and Ghanaian national James Kwesi Addison welcomed the Methodist Church Ghana Mt. Zion Methodist Church Sakumono' Susanna Wesley Mission Auxiliary (SUWMA) to the national #sesaYouth programme.

This Seminar, graced by the Tema West Supt. Minister, [Rt Rev Col. Paul Adjei Brewu (Rtd)], introduced distinguished members of the " Susanna Wesley Mission Auxiliary (SUWMA) of the Mt. Zion Methodist Sakumono to emotional resilience; under the theme: 'Building Up Your Emotional Intelligence as a Christian'.

Other participants were from other sister SUWMA Societies from Ebenezer, Gethsemane, Maranatha, and Emmanuel and all Organizational Representatives from Mt. Zion Methodist Church Sakumono.

James raised consciousness to the need for emotional resilience within the heart of families, specifically delivered as practical support from specially qualified young faith leaders under the national #sesaYOUTH programme.

He explained the importance for emotional safety at home, and how – guided through the church ministry and teachings- children and young people grow-up to be emotionally resilient. This emotional resilience strengthens self-awareness & management, social skills and ultimately resilience – the ability to bounce-back from emotionally distressing situations. He said that emotionally resilient congregations are stronger and more cohesive.

In the opening devotional message, Rev. Dr. Solomon Nortey educated his members on the need for all Ghanaians to be emotionally resilient – intelligent in all of their endeavours as christians, parents/family members and citizens.

In a post Seminar interview The Director SESA Africa (and Ghana's first internationally certified EQ Coach), James Kwesi Addison said "Jesus Christ referred to His Disciples as 'the salt and the Light of the World' because of the social and emotional competencies that He lived and taught them such as Empathy, Love, Servant Leadership, Optimism, Compassion, interpersonal skills, Self-Awareness & Management, among others.

Since August 2017, under James' leadership, SESA Africa has been engaging and developing capability within Ghana's faith communities – with a presence in a further 19 countries of Africa.

The #sesaYOUTH programme is the single largest specialist youth leadership qualification pathway – to equip future church leaders to serve their communities through guidance and mentoring; building emotional safety and resilience around them.
