The Ministry of Finance has given financial clearance for over 24,033 health personnel to be employed by the Ministry of Health.
Speaking at a press briefing in Accra, the Deputy Minister of information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, said the Ministry for Health gave the clearance to enable the Ministry engage the services of twenty-four thousand , thirty-three (24,033) Professional Health Trainees.
The financial clearance follows numerous protests by the Coalition of Unemployed Private Nurses who are demanding immediate posting.
He added that government will continue to deepen its job creation initiatives in the private and public sector.
Government also revealed that financial clearance has been given by the Finance Ministry to create over 145,000 jobs in the public and private sector.
Giving a breakdown of the statistics, Mr. Oppong-Nkrumah said about 9,500 will be in the education sector.
The rest are 4,000 for the Ghana Police Service; 3,500 for other security agencies; 2,700 Agricultural Extension workers; 1,049 local government workers; 20,000 for afforestation and approximately 100,000 for the Nation Builders Corps (NaBCo).
