Energy Minister John Abdulai Jinapor has announced that Ghana’s crude oil production is expected to increase this year, marking a reversal of years of steady decline. At the same time, the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) has begun a significant recovery after prolonged operational and financial difficulties.
Speaking at the official commissioning of the refurbished Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) at TOR, Mr Jinapor said the government has successfully halted the downward trend in the country’s upstream petroleum sector since taking office.
According to the Minister, crude oil output had declined consistently over the past few years, but current interventions have placed the industry on a path to renewed growth.
Mr Jinapor also highlighted the revival of the Tema Oil Refinery as a key achievement under the government’s Reset Agenda, describing the refinery’s return to operations as an important step towards strengthening Ghana’s energy security, enhancing local refining capacity and supporting economic development.
He expressed confidence that ongoing reforms and investments in the petroleum sector would help sustain production growth and improve the overall performance of the country’s energy industry.
