The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has opened entries for the 30th GJA Media Awards, which recognises excellence and professionalism in journalism.
GJA President Albert Kwabena Dwumfour announced that eligible journalists can submit their entries online from today, September 3, to September 18, 2026.
He stressed that there would be no extension of the deadline.
Only GJA members in good standing are eligible to participate. Entries must also be works published or broadcast between January 1 and December 31, 2025.
President Dwumfour warned that they will scrutinise the dates of stories to ensure journalists do not submit work outside the eligible period.
Mr Dwumfour urged journalists to carefully follow the submission guidelines and ensure their entries fall within the required period.
The association has also introduced two new award categories: the Bank of Ghana Governance, Economic and Financial Story of the Year, and Best Digital and New Media Platform of the Year.
Meanwhile, the GJA has removed the Female Journalist of the Year category following a review of the awards.
Mr Dwumfour explained that the category was initially introduced to promote gender equality but said women journalists were now increasingly competing and winning the ultimate Journalist of the Year award.
The 30th GJA Media Awards ceremony is expected to be held in Accra in October 2026.
