Health workers in Northern Region on strike

Members of the Health Service Workers Union (HSWU) in the Northern Region have declared an indefinite strike to protest their working conditions.

The strike, which is with immediate effect, seeks to get the government to work on better working conditions for the members of the association.

The strike is in session as checks by Atinka News’ correspondent reveal  Health Service Workers in the hospitals seem to have abandoned their posts.

Speaking to the media, the Northern Region Chairman of the Union, , Abraham Amoh Raymond,  bemoaned the government’s failure to coerce the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) to better their working conditions.

 “Our employers have put us too tight to the wall. We entreat members to stay resolute, fearless, focus and united to fight until all the union demands are met,” Abraham Amoh Raymond added.

Services affected by the indefinite strike include records, mortuary, orderly, security, IT, maintenance, estates etc.
