Seven family members have been burnt to death after fire swept through their home at Big Apple, a suburb of Buduburam in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.

The heart-wrenching incident occurred around 5:30 am on Sunday at Teachers Quarters at Big Apple.

60-year-old Robert Assan Donkoh was burnt beyond recognition together with his wife and five children including a 4- month old baby girl.

According to reports, the fire started around 5:30 am but it is still unclear what caused the fire.

According to an eyewitness, Isaiah Bentley, a man who attempted to save them (family of 7) said he heard members of the family screaming for help but he could not help them due to the structure of the building coupled with the intensity of the inferno.
