The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has decorated Inspector Hance Atubra with his new rank of Chief Inspector in recognition of his bravery and exceptional efforts during a fire outbreak at Aboso in the Western Region.
Inspector Atubra, who is stationed at the Tarkwa Divisional Headquarters, was invited to the National Police Headquarters in Accra on Monday, August 31, 2026, where the IGP formally decorated him with his new rank.
His promotion followed his courageous intervention during the fire outbreak on August 26, 2026, when he demonstrated exceptional commitment to public safety by helping to save lives and protect property.
The recognition highlights the role of police officers who go beyond their routine duties to respond to emergencies and protect members of the public in difficult and potentially dangerous situations.
The Ghana Police Service said the promotion was a recognition of Inspector Atubra’s bravery, dedication and exceptional efforts in the line of duty.
The IGP’s decision to honour the officer also serves as an encouragement to other personnel to uphold professionalism, courage and dedication in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Inspector Atubra’s elevation to the rank of Chief Inspector is therefore seen as both a reward for his actions during the Aboso fire and a recognition of the importance of police officers’ contribution to protecting lives and property during emergencies.
