The Ministry of the Interior has issued a public safety advisory, urging Ghanaians to exercise extreme caution due to the heavy rains and flooding experienced in several parts of the country.
In a statement signed by the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the Ministry advised members of the public to remain in safe locations until weather conditions improve, warning against unnecessary movement.
According to the advisory, persons who are safely at home are encouraged to remain indoors, while those at their workplaces or other secure locations should stay there until it is safe to travel.
The Ministry also cautioned motorists and pedestrians against attempting to drive or walk through flooded roads, bridges, and waterways, noting that floodwaters can rise rapidly and pose significant risks to life and property.
To support emergency response efforts, the Ministry said the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana National Fire Service, the Ghana Armed Forces, the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), and other emergency agencies have been deployed to monitor the situation, assist affected persons, manage traffic, and undertake rescue operations where necessary.
Residents in flood-prone communities have been advised to relocate to higher ground, if safe to do so, and promptly report emergencies or persons in distress to the nearest security or emergency response agency.
The Ministry further urged the public to remain calm, cooperate with security and emergency personnel, and rely only on official sources for information and updates.

The Ministry reaffirmed that the safety and well-being of the public remain the government’s highest priority and assured citizens that it will continue to monitor the situation closely while providing updates as necessary.
It also expressed concern for all persons affected by the flooding and pledged that every effort is being made to provide the necessary assistance and ensure public safety.
