The CEO of Buabeng Authentic Herbal Hospital, Dr. Buabeng Foster, has raised concerns about what he says is a growing number of women contracting HIV during childbirth.
Speaking on Ghana Nie – Perspective on Atinka TV with Ekow Budu Sam, he called for urgent attention to the issue and urged health authorities to investigate the causes.
According to Dr. Buabeng, Caesarean section (C-section) procedures are partly to blame for the problem. He expressed concern that some women who undergo the surgery later test positive for HIV, describing the situation as worrying and one that needs immediate action.

Dr. Buabeng also criticized the practice of asking pregnant women to sign consent forms stating that they may not survive a Caesarean section. He said the process creates fear and emotional stress for expectant mothers before they undergo the operation.
He called on the relevant authorities to review current practices surrounding C-section deliveries and improve patient care.
Dr. Buabeng said more must be done to protect mothers and ensure they receive safe treatment during childbirth.
