A security analyst, Nana Appiah Owusu, has called for CCTV installers to undergo security clearance as part of efforts to protect the privacy and security of residents.
Speaking on Atinka TV’s Ghana Nie, he said the people who install CCTV cameras in homes could have access to the systems and may be able to monitor the movements of residents if proper safeguards are not in place.
His comments follow the daylight robbery and shooting of a gold seller at Agona Nkwanta, an incident captured by a CCTV camera.
Nana Appiah Asare called for broader measures to prevent video leaks and security breaches, stressing the need to protect CCTV footage and ensure that those who install and manage such systems are properly checked.
