Volta Region: Driver Escapes Unhurt After Car Crashes Into ECG Pole at Anfoega

A male driver narrowly escaped injury after the vehicle he was driving crashed into an Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) distribution pole at Anfoega Adame Newtown in the North Dayi District of the Volta Region.

The accident occurred at about 3:40 p.m. on Monday, July 6, 2026, prompting a swift response from personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) stationed at the Anfoega Fire Station.

According to the GNFS, firefighters spotted the accident from their station, which is located directly opposite the crash scene, and immediately rushed to assist.

On arrival, the rescue team found a Hyundai Accent with registration number GW 6383-17 that had collided with the ECG distribution pole.

The firefighters, led by Station Officer I Franklin Soglo, successfully extricated the trapped driver from the wreckage.

The driver did not sustain any visible injuries but was advised to seek medical attention as a precautionary measure.

Following the rescue operation, the damaged vehicle was towed to the police station to aid investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Firefighters also managed traffic at the scene to ensure the safe movement of motorists and prevent further incidents while the accident site was being cleared.

The Ghana National Fire Service has since urged motorists to strictly adhere to road safety regulations, avoid distractions while driving, and exercise caution on the roads to help reduce road traffic accidents.
