Galamsey: "Where are the seized gold and generators?" –Kwesi Pratt quizzes

The Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr, is asking  the Operation Vanguard team the whereabouts of gold, generators and other items seized aside the over 500 excavators during its operations.
Kwesi Pratt was  speaking on the Vehicles and mining machinery including excavators, which were seized by Operation Vanguard Task-force  but disappeared from the site where they were being kept.
Speaking to Atinka FM’s Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive, Kwesi Pratt Jnr explained that the operation Vanguard did not only seize excavators of persons believed to be indulging in illegal mining during its raid.
According to him, the team seized gold, generators, pick-up vehicles belonging to these persons.
“We are only talking about the 500 excavators, what of the gold worth more than the 500 excavators which were seized? What of the pick-ups, the mining equipment which were all seized together with the excavators during the raid. That is my worry,” he added.
Kwame Agyeman, a victim in the missing excavators and mining equipment saga has also revealed that his Mitsubishi pick-up was spotted at Ayawaso West Wuogon during the last by-election.
Kwame Agyeman whose Mitsubishi pick-up was seized in an operation by the officials of the Operation Vanguard in Wassa in the Western Region recounted how his pick-up was mistaken for a mining vehicle and was detained by the Operation Vanguard in Wassa.
He, however, noted that checks by the Police revealed that his vehicle was not involved in illegal mining and so the court ordered that his Pick-up be released to him. He added that the car was nowhere to be found after the court ruling.
“Upon further interrogations, I was told personally by Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng that my vehicle was part of the vehicles sent to Ayawaso West Wuogon to aid campaign in the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election so I should go there and look for my car”, he added.
Meanwhile, there have been calls by politicians, including Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong, for the removal of Minister for Environment Science and Technology, Professor Frimpong Boateng.
